Hello!
(desktopcomputer.blog / desktop.computer on tiktok) is a blog discussing ethics, psychology, sociology, history, and design in technology and social platforms.
Foremost, I want people to critically think for themselves on their personal relationship with technology. What are your own values? In what ways does technology help or harm these values?
I also want to shine a light on ways to remove ourselves from harmful technology design prevalent in today’s world; while at the same time still finding ways to be creative, learn, and connect with others in an online space. This, in many ways, is designed to be difficult. But as long as you put yourself first, and are aware of different ways to physically remove yourself from the online world and what you personally want to get out of being online, it can be done!
FAQ
With your blog and TikTok page, aren’t you also adding to the “problem?”
Yes. 1000x yes. In no way can I say “not really” or try to see the benefit of the doubt. Posting content online, especially on a platform (i.e. Tiktok), that is designed to get you to take in information passively, will be harmful. There is no way around this.
There are several guidelines I have in place on the timeframe of “desktop.computer”, what I encourage or don’t encourage with people viewing it, why post on TikTok, and following direct psychological ways to create less “addiction.”
The timeframe of “desktop.computer”:
Desktop.computer will not be running forever. Its main goal is to provide information on ethics, psychology, sociology, and design in technology and social platforms; and encouraging people to develop better understandings and their own personal views. At the same time; I don’t want to perpetrate the harmful design many social platforms have nowadays. For example:

- ()
This is why desktop.computer will have between 75 to 125 videos in total. All these videos will be hosted on this website; with no need to check TikTok weekly. Each week, topics will be posted Sunday afternoons at 2pm. A list of all topics to be made will also be posted in the “topics” tab on this blog. desk.computer will NOT run forever; I will not be attempting to monetize any of it. This information is meant for you to know how information will be presented, in which ways you may want to access it, and to create informed personal decisions on what you want to view or keep up with.
The reason that not all videos will come out at once is simply they are not all filmed. I have done personal research for a while on these topics and I’m now starting to package this information to share with others. But to be honest, I am pretty busy and this is a dedicated hobby for me. I, and how I want encourage others to be, like to spend my time doing things I love and align with my values outside of the internet. For this reason, I apologize that not all the videos will be on here at once. I hope explaining the schedule and reasoning helps.
What I encourage or don’t encourage with people viewing it:
